Jira is a work management software that allows you to track issues and perform all kinds of operations for projects in their scheduling, publishing and collaboration stage. Many workers are used to using dark mode on other platforms and applications while working, and when they come to Jira they find the light and brightness of the screen even more annoying than usual. Therefore, it can be really useful to enable dark mode in Jira.
Turning on night mode in Jira will allow us to protect our eyesight from visual fatigue when we have to spend a large number of hours working in front of the computer. It will also allow us to focus better when using the software, so we will strain our eyes to a lesser extent.
Is Jira’s Dark Mode available for the web browser?
Unfortunately, Jira does not yet have a dark theme officially, but this does not mean that we have to deprive ourselves of the advantages of dark mode in Jira. For this there are different options such as using an extension for our device. Below, we explain how to do it in a simple way.
How to enable Jira’s dark mode for the browser
As we discussed above, there is no official way to directly enable dark mode in Jira, but we can use a browser extension to do so. Specifically, there is a specific extension for it called “Night Mode for Jira”. To enable this extension, we do the following:
- We go to the “Extensions” section in our browser options.
- Look for “Night Mode for Jira”
- Select the extension and click “Add”.
- Wait briefly until it installs and go to the extension icon in your browser.
- Click on the icon of the extension to activate it when we are in Jira and that’s it.
This is a free extension that perfectly fulfills the function for which it is designed. With it we will have no problems during night shifts, or during the day if we are used to use this mode on a regular basis. There are also other alternatives to this extension, which allow us to put our entire browser in dark mode, such as Dark Eye or Dark Mode.
